Sheriff Rotter remarked that this award was a testament to the hard working jail staff at Iowa County. The Sheriff added that his jail staff not only run the jail really well, but also treat those within it like fellow human beings which helps reduce recidivism.

The Iowa County Jail, located in Marengo, opened in 2006 and has an authorized capacity of 44 inmates.
