Prospect Meadows receives tax breaks

Prospect Meadows, a baseball and softball sports complex in Marion slated to open in spring 2019, received an award from the Enhance Iowa board on Wednesday.

The award, which comes in the form of a sales tax rebate, could total up to $2.5 million when the rebate expires. Tax revenue from sales of tickets, merchandise, or other goods would be kept by the Prospect Meadows project within 10 years of construction completion or when the awarded limit is reached.

Prospect Meadows will contain 17 baseball and softball fields for differing skill levels and ages. It will also feature a lake and wetland, acres of flowers and native grasses, play areas, and trails. The total cost of the project is expected to be $15.2 million.
