High-speed chase in Decorah

Authorities say an off-duty Deputy from Winneshiek County saw 36-year-old Andrew Quinn from Decorah driving southbound on Highway 52 toward Decorah Saturday.

Quinn had a warrant out for his arrest for a previous contempt of court probation violation and at the deputy's request, a Decorah Police Officer conducted a traffic stop on Quinn's vehicle.

When an officer started to approach Quinn's car near Chattahoochee County Park, Quin drove off southbound at more than 90 mph toward the Highway 9 and Highway 52 intersection.

When Quinn went into the intersection, he hit the deputy's patrol car. He then backed up, trying to flee the intersection, but hit a second deputy's patrol car that had pulled up behind him in an attempt to box him in.

Quinn was arrested by police and taken to the Winneshiek County Jail and charged with Aggravated Eluding and Aggravated Driving While Barred.

Authorities say no one was hurt during the crashes, but the first deputy's patrol car had significant damage.
