CR garage killing guilty plea

A man accused of killing a woman and then lighting her garage on fire plans to plead guilty next month.

Timothy Evans, 38, faces a charge of first degree murder. Originally he also faced robbery, burglary, and arson charges.

He is accused of breaking into a garage in southwest Cedar Rapids on April 29. Police say he randomly picked the detached garage to burglarize. But they say he killed the homeowner, 38-year-old Gina Frederiksen, and then lit her garage on fire.

Evans is expected in court on December 7 for a plea hearing and sentencing.
