CRPD Investigate Monday Shooting

A man was shot twice in the leg on the southeast side of Cedar Rapids on Monday afternoon.

At 2:22 p.m., Cedar Rapids Police responded to a report of at least three shots fired at the corner of 6th Avenue SE and 15th Street SE. Upon arriving at the scene, officers were able to locate a male victim who had suffered two gunshot wounds to his left leg.

Responding officers provided medical attention to the victim at the scene, who was then transported to Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said they gathered information from witnesses at the scene and were able to locate evidence of the shooting in the 1400 block alley between 5th and 6th Avenue SE.

No names of the victim or any suspects were released at this time. Police officials are investigating further.
