Man Leads Authorities on 60-Mile Chase

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) - At 4:14 p.m. Thursday a Dubuque County Deputy found a car was pulled off onto the shoulder of Highway 61 near Pitz Road.

The driver of the car, Michael Anthony Wright-Lee, from Indianapolis, Indiana, was driving a car with registration plates that didn't match the vehicle.

A VIN check found the vehicle was reported stolen out of Chicago.

Authorities say the driver fled the scene when they were speaking with him.

Wright-Lee began driving southbound at a high rate of speed on Highway 61.

The deputy initiated a pursuit on the car Wright-Lee was driving, following the vehicle an estimated 60 miles through Dubuque County, Jackson County, Maquoketa, and then into Clinton County, where the chase ended with a disabling device.

Wright-Lee was charged with Possession of Stolen Property/Theft 2nd Degree.

He was taken into custody in Clinton County and charges are pending in Dubuque County for Eluding, Interference, and traffic violations related to the chase.

The deputy was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Maquoketa Police Department, and the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.
