WAUKON, Iowa (KCRG) - A man convicted of killing his stepfather in April is facing up to 50 years in prison.
John Quanrude, 32, of Waukon, was convicted last month of second-degree murder. Prosecutors said he shot and killed 60-year-old Dean Russell.
Investigators said Quanrude claimed the shooting was accidental.
During his sentencing, a judge ruled that Quanrude will spend at least 35 years in prison and pay more than $150,000 restitution.
