'Inappropriate Contact' Investigation at BCHS

VAN HORNE, Iowa (KCRG) -- The Benton County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report that a teacher in the Benton Community School District's high school inappropriately touched a student.

The sheriff's office said school district officials reported the allegation to them. Right now, investigators are conducting forensic interviews with the alleged victim through the Child Protection Center in Hiawatha.

The district has not said whether the teacher in question has been placed on leave but confirms the teacher is being paid. The district sent out an email communication to parents indicating the teacher has been removed from the classroom.

KCRG-TV9 is not identifying the subject of the investigation pending the results of the sheriff's office investigation.
