Only about three days good for fieldwork with statewide topsoil and subsoil moisture levels jumping to around 25 percent surplus.
Eighty-five percent of the corn crop is mature, staying a week ahead of the average and 11 percent of Iowa corn for grain is harvested, five days ahead of the average. Southeast Iowa farmers still lead the way with 29 percent harvested.
Nearly all of the soybean crop is coloring with 88 percent dropping leaves, nine days ahead of the average. While 15 percent of the soybean crop is harvested, only a day ahead of the five-year average.
