CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (KCRG-TV9)-- Hundreds of people came out to the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk/5K Sunday morning. The event was put on by the Hawkeye Area Down Syndrome Association.
Besides running, there were raffle prizes, and face painting. The money raised will go to the Hawkeye Area Down Syndrome Association. It will help organize the many events they put on for families of individuals with Down syndrome.
HADSA member Leslie Nussle says, "More and more our family members are in the community and in schools, they're integrated into classrooms which is exactly where they should be. So any community awareness that we can use through events like these is a win-win for the community.”
