CR Sees Increase in Vehicle Thefts

The Cedar Rapids Police Department is warning the public of six theft reports from vehicles since Friday.

Police say most of the incidents involved a window being broken and a purse or wallet being stolen from the car.

Authorities say three were reported Friday, two of them at Squaw Creek Park and one at the Cedar Rapids Country Club.

On Sunday four incidents were reported, one at the Cedar Rapids Country Club, one at Cleveland Park, and two at the Cheyenne Off-Leash Dog Park.

Authorities say during all of the incidents the purse or wallet was in plain view.

Police want to remind people to take their purses or wallets with them.
