High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Authorities took a Cedar Rapids man into custody after a chase that ended when he crashed his vehicle into a creek.

Iowa State Patrol tried to pull over 28-year-old James Miller around 9:30 Wednesday night on I-380 in the northbound lanes near mile marker 9. But State Patrol says Miller sped off, then took exit 10 off the interstate at Swisher and Shueyville.

The chase went through Shueyville and lasted a few more miles before State Patrol says Miller lost control of his vehicle near Ely Road Northeast, and crashed into Hoosier Creek. He was wearing a seatbelt.

Authorities took Miller into custody and took him to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for his injuries. A crash report does not give the severity of the injuries.
