IC Storm Debris Cleanup Requirements

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Iowa City has announced their requirements for anyone hoping to have the city pick up any debris or yard waste from storm damage they may have had Tuesday.

The city had winds over 80 mph that downed power lines, trees, and branches in the area.

Residents are able to haul their debris to the yard waste facility at the Iowa City Landfill from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They want to remind residents yard waste must be separated from trash, as it is against state law to put it into the landfill.

People with curbside service can also put woody debris at the curb for pick up on their normal collection day.

All debris and brush must meet the following requirements:

• Be four inches or less in diameter• Be tied in bundles no bigger around than 18 inches, and no more than 48 inches long• Weigh less than 50 pounds

If brush doesn't match the expectations, the city says the brush will be left at the curb.
