Pilot Unharmed in Clayton Co. Crash

CLAYTON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Clayton County authorities have identified the pilot whose plane lost power and crashed into a corn field Wednesday night.

Sheriff Mike Tschirgi says William Behrend of Waukon walked away uninjured after his small plane lost power and crashed.

Tschirgi says the crash, near 13978 Greenfield Avenue, was called into his office just after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

He says the plane lost power and Behrend was able to guide it into the corn field.

The Monona Fire Department, Monona Ambulance, Monona Police, Farmersburg First Responders and Iowa State Patrol assisted on the scene.
