CRPD Investigate Hit & Run

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Police are investigating a hit and run that happened Monday evening in Cedar Rapids.

Police say a 14-year-old boy checked into Mercy Medical Center after being hit on his bike between 5:10 and 5:20 p.m. on Boyson Road NE.

The boy said he was riding his bike eastbound on the sidewalk south of Boyson Road NE when he came to the Brentwood Dr. NE intersection.

The victim said when he got to the intersection on the sidewalk, he saw a black SUV, with a possibly white female with blonde hair driving come up to the stop sign and stop.

He went into the intersection to ride across the street eastbound when the driver of the SUV drove forward and hit him while he was on his bike.

The boy said he was hit by the center of the front bumper and grill area before he tumbled onto the top of the hood. He was then thrown forward and further away from the bike that was on the ground.

The victim said the SUV backed up while he picked up the items that he dropped and then the woman driving the SUV drove off.

Police say the only information they've received is the description of the medium-sized black SUV given by the victim.
