30 Hogs Killed in Fayette Co. Rollover

FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Over 30 hogs were killed in an accident on August 6 in Fayette County.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a semi tractor-trailer that tipped over in the ditch on U Avenue southeast of Waucoma.

An investigation found 28-year-old Levi Byler from Stewartville, Minnesota was driving the tractor-trailer when he got distracted. Byler then lost control and went into a ditch, causing the semi and trailer to roll on its side.

Over 30 hogs were killed in the accident and damage to the tractor-trailer owned by Livestock Express Inc. had about $20,000 in damage.

Byler wasn't hurt in the accident but was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
