Two Tama County residents and a Waterloo woman suffered injuries in a crash on U.S. 218 in Henry County over the weekend.
The Iowa State Patrol said it happened about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, July 28, in the southbound lanes of U.S. 218 near mile marker 48, about 5 miles north of Mount Pleasant.
Troopers said the driver, 21-year-old Austin Beadles of Buckingham either blacked out or fell asleep driving, and the SUV left the road to the east, then over-corrected, crossing back over the southbound lanes and into the west ditch where it hit a tree.
An ambulance took the driver and 49-year-old Bradley Dundee of Buckingham to a hospital in Mount Pleasant. Emergency crews took 49-year-old Ashley Beadles of Waterloo to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
The patrol did not state their conditions, but said the crash remains under investigation.
