Authorities in a Des Moines suburb are looking for a man they believe approached and chased a young girl before fleeing.
The alleged incident happened Friday evening at Northeast 36th Street and Delaware Avenue near Otter Creek Park, officials said.
Officers with the Ankeny Police Department said they received a call reporting that a white man with a mustache and beard had approached a girl under the age of 12 as she was walking her dog.
Neighbors received an alert through a community forum that the man was driving a black SUV when he allegedly approached the girl.
Police said the man appeared to have candy, but it is unclear if that was used to lure the girl.
The girl was able to get away after the man chased her, police said.
