Iowa Men’s Golf
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa senior Sam Meuret has been named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, the announcement came Wednesday by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Meuret, a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, competed in 10 tournaments as a senior in 2017-18. The native of Brunswick, Nebraska, recorded two top-20 finishes and seven rounds at or below par last season. Meuret averaged a 74.52 over 25 rounds, including firing a season-low 69 at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in September, 2017.
The University of Iowa men’s golf team was also named to the GCAA All-Academic Team. To be recognized academically, the team must carry a 3.0 grade-point-average or better.
