DNR Investigating Delaware Fish Kill

The DNR is investigating a report of a fish kill in Delaware County from Greeley to Earlville.

Many species of dead fish, including game fish like smallmouth bass and rock bass, were found along nearly 20 miles of Plum Creek.

"We think the fish kill happened earlier, probably during a rainstorm on July 13," Chief Investigator Brian Jergenson said. “It’s difficult to pin down a specific source several days after a pollutant washes into a stream.”

The investigation is still ongoing. The DNR is requesting anyone seeing dead fish or pollutants to call the DNR's 24-hour spill line at 515-725-8694.
