CRPD: Violent Crime Down

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Police say violent crime in Cedar Rapids was down in the first half of 2018, compared with the same time period last year.

The list includes murders, robberies, sex offenses, and aggravated assaults.

In the first six months this year, police responded to reports of 151 violent crimes, versus 173 in the same period in 2017. That's a decrease of 13 percent.

The biggest drop was in sex offenses, which were down about 33 percent.

Robberies were the only increase, up about four percent.
