IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa head women's tennis coach Sasha Schmid announced Tuesday that Ashleigh Jacobs will join the University of Iowa women's tennis team in the fall of 2018.
“I am excited to welcome Ashleigh to the Hawkeye tennis program,” said Schmid. “She is a wonderful addition to our team and her signing completes our squad for the upcoming year.”
Jacobs is from Alberta, Canada, and comes to Iowa after competing at Gonzaga as a freshman. She was 6-3 in singles and 12-9 in doubles for the Bulldogs. She graduated from the National Sport School in Calgary in 2017, and won four ITF titles from 2015-17. She was a silver medalist at the 2017 Canada Summer Games, and a gold medalist at the Western Canada Summer Games in 2015.
“Ashleigh brings valuable experience to our team and will contribute in both doubles and singles,” said Schmid. “She has great international experience in juniors, and I know she is excited to have found a good fit for her tennis and academics here at the University Iowa. I am looking forward to seeing her compete as a Hawkeye for the next three years.”
Jacobs is the fifth Hawkeye to commit to the 2018 recruiting class. Samantha Mannix and Michelle Bacalla signed with the Hawkeyes last fall. Sophie Clark and Chloe Ruette committed in the spring.
