CR Woman Charged with Drug Possession

MT. PLEASANT, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A Cedar Rapids woman is facing drug charges after a traffic stop in Henry County.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office said deputies performed a traffic stop about 8:30 p.m. June 1 on a vehicle going 81 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone near U.S. 218 and 160th Street, about 8 miles north of Mt. Pleasant.

Deputies found marijuana on Heather McDaniel and in the vehicle. They arrested her and took her to the Henry County Jail where they tested McDaniel for suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of marijuana.

She is facing charges of a controlled substance violation and failing to affix a drug stamp. McDaniel was also cited for speeding and driving a non-registered vehicle. The impaired driving charge is pending test results.
