Ag Secretary Comes to Eastern Iowa

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Iowa's new Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig was in the Quad Cities Tuesday talking about the need for a Farm Bill, and other issues facing farmers.

He says one concern is that there aren't enough young people getting into farming.

"So looking at strategies to make sure we're connecting earlier with students in high schools for instance to let them know about the opportunities in their communities," Naig said.

He also went on to say the a good agriculture economy impacts everyone.

"When agriculture is thriving everybody benefits, when ag's having tough times, it impact everybody." Naig said.
