WEATHER ALERT: Severe Storms This Afternoon

Pay careful attention to weather conditions as we go through your Thursday. The morning continues to look dry and mild with pockets of clearing sky.

After 1-2pm, the risk of thunderstorms will increase yet again with the highest chance in the late afternoon and evening hours. Many ingredients are in place later today for significant severe weather. Storms may be capable of 70+ mph wind, hail greater than golf ball size, and several strong tornadoes. The tornado risk is higher today than it was yesterday, and needs to be monitored. Also, like yesterday, development of storms may be nearly instant and could occur directly over a location.

Bottom line is to be aware of rapidly changing weather conditions later today and have a plan in place. Rainfall amounts will probably exceed 1" in many spots, leading to 3-day rainfall totals of 1-2+".
