Victim ID'd in Fatal Benton Co. Crash

BENTON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) - Authorities have identified the person killed in a crash Friday night in Benton County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 90-year-old Arlene Erusha died after a semi hit her SUV while she tried to cross Highway 30 onto 32nd Avenue.

The crash is still under investigation.

At least one person is dead after a crash involving a semi and an SUV in Benton County Friday.

It happened at Highway 30 and 32nd Avenue at 4:45 p.m.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2014 Hyundai SUV heading north tried to cross Highway 30 onto 32nd Avenue.

That's when a 1994 Freightliner semi heading west hit the vehicle.

The SUV came to a stop on the westbound median while the semi came to a stop in the westbound ditch.

The driver of the SUV was killed.

That person's identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the semi, 69-year-old William Butterfield, was taken to the hospital with injuries.

There's no word on his current condition.

The crash is under investigation.
