Cedar River on the Rise in Cedar Falls

Rain and snow this past weekend has caused the Cedar River to rise above flood stage in Cedar Falls.

It is forecast to crest a little above 90 feet Wednesday morning, then fall below the flood stage of 88 feet Wednesday night.

Here are the impacts at various river stages:

90.3 feet: Water covers Riverside Drive south of Beech Street.90.0 feet: Water covers the north half of Tourist Park.89.7 feet: Water covers the road at 1712 and 1118 Cottage Row Road.89.0 feet: Water is at the edge of 1712 Cottage Row Road. The northeast corner of Tourist Park floods.88.8 feet: Water covers the north and south legs of Cottage Row Road south of Snag Creek.88.5 feet: Water covers the bike path at George Wyth Park.

The river stages do not indicate how deep the water is.

The Cedar River is also forecast to rise downstream from Waterloo through Vinton and Cedar Rapids, and down to Conesville. At this time, the river is expected to remain below flood stage in those locations.
