Independence Man Facing More Charges

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Independence Police Department officers with the assistance of the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office and Iowa State Patrol executed multiple search warrants on March 27, 28, and 29 at the home and storage sheds Reuther was renting.

Officers found thousands of dollars worth of stolen items. Since then, authorities have identified more than 15 victims and helped identify their property.

In addition to the charges listed in the first story posted below, Reuther has also been charged with five counts of 2nd Degree Theft, two counts of 3rd Degree Theft, two counts of 4th Degree Theft, and three counts of Possession of Burglary Tools.

Reuther is being held in the Buchanan County Jail on a $125,000 bond.

The police department says they're dedicated to working with the victims of the thefts and helping identify and return their personal property. They ask that victims and their families are patient during the investigation.
