WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Waterloo Police have arrested two residents wanted for injuries found on a 19-month old boy.
Police said 33-year-old John Mercurio and 29-year-old Nevena Soknic had been scheduled to go to trial for child endangerment charges in February, but failed to appear for a pre-trial conference.
Court records state officers were sent to the couple's home on October 17 and found the boy with bruises on his face and body in different stages of healing. Two older children in the home told Child Protection Center workers the toddler had been hit.
Authorities removed all three children from the home in the 3600 block of Canterbury Court.
