The University of Iowa women’s tennis team continues its five-match road trip with visits to Maryland and Rutgers this weekend. Iowa is at Maryland on Saturday at the Cole Courts at 12 p.m. (CT), and at Rutgers on Sunday at the Busch Tennis Courts at 11 a.m.

“We have two great conference matches on the road again this weekend. Maryland and Rutgers will be competitive challenges for us. We need to have a good week of practice and stay very focused in order to be ready for the weekend.”
HAWKEYES ON THE ROAD
Iowa’s match at Maryland is its third of five straight on the road. The Hawkeyes are 3-7 on the road. Three of their losses are to teams ranked 33rd or higher. Iowa broke a 19-year losing streak at Notre Dame on the road March 3, and earned wins at Montana and SMU.
REIMCHEN, VAN HEUVELEN KEEP ROLLING IN DOUBLES
Sophomore Elise van Heuvelen and senior Anastasia Reimchen are ranked No. 47 in the ITA doubles rankings. They have paired together 10 times, posting a 7-2 record with one match unfinished.
The duo has one win over a top 20 opponentn, defeating No. 13 Chatt and Lee from Northwestern, 6-3. They lost a pair of matches at Wichita State and Ohio State in late March, but rebounded last with wins over Indiana and Purdue last weekend. They defeated Appel and Bozovic from Indiana, 6-4, and Ambrosio and Calkins from Purdue, 6-4.
The duo has played at Iowa’s top doubles position for six straight matches.
MORE FUN AT DOUBLES
The Hawkeyes’ No. 2 doubles position is 12-5 this season. The No. 1 position is 11-5, and the No. 3 spot is 8-8. The group is 31-18 (.633) overall.
Senior Zoe Douglas and junior have paired at the No. 2 doubles positions for four straight matches. The duo lost a pair of matches at Wichita State and Ohio State, but have bounced back with two straight wins; 6-3 at Purdue and 6-2 at Indiana. They have one other match together this season, a 7-5 win against Michigan State.
TAKING ON THE TERRAPINS
Saturday’s match is the fourth meeting between Iowa and Maryland. The Terrapins lead the all-time series, 3-0.
TAKING ON THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
Sunday’s match is the second between Iowa and Rutgers. The Hawkeyes won the previous meeting between the teams, 6-1, in 2015.
