Special Elections Held Today

Eastern Iowans will be heading to the polls Tuesday for a special elections.

In the WMT listening area:
Alburnett, people will be voting to fill a council member vacancy as well as voting on whether to increase the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy or PPEL by 67 cents. This will help pay for new buses. This needs a simple majority to pass.

In Mount Vernon, voters will decide on a $12.8 million bond issue. This would pay for among other things a new performing arts center that would be added on to the school. It needs a 60 percent super majority to pass.

Polls open are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
