IC Robbery Suspect Arrested

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Iowa City Police officers were able to chase down and arrest an alleged robber Saturday, according to a news release.

Sgt. Scott Gaarde said around 11:30 a.m. officers headed to 955 Mormon Trek Boulevard after a victim reported the robbery.

"According to the victim, a male suspect displayed a knife, demanded cash, and then fled the area in an unknown direction of travel," said Gaarde. "Multiple officers responded to the area whereupon a suspect was located that matched the description provided by the victim."

Gaarde said police were able to catch the suspect after a brief foot chase. No one was injured.

"Over the course of subsequent investigation, a seventeen-year-old male was charged with Robbery in the First Degree," said Gaarde. "The suspect was then transported to the Linn County Juvenile Detention center without incident."

Gaarde said Iowa City officers were helped in the investigation by the University Heights Police Department.
