CRPD Seeking Assistance in Pedestrian Death

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Cedar Rapids police are asking witnesses of a pedestrian hit and killed to come forward and help them with their investigation.

On Tuesday, March 13th, Lavell Robinson Junior was hit by a vehicle and killed in the 3200 block of 6th Street southwest around 11:40 p.m.

Police have spoken to some witnesses. They've determined Robinson was walking on the shoulder of the road and appeared to stumble to the ground. Witnesses turned around to check on Robinson, but a vehicle had already hit him.

Witnesses did see a gray or silver Chevrolet Silverado passed by the scene at the same time who may have witnessed it. Police want to speak to the driver of that vehicle.

Police also say while officers were on the scene, a person driving a Jeep indicated they hit the victim as he was lying in the road. That driver did provide their information to officers.

Investigators are waiting for autopsy results on the victim, and there are no charges in this case at this time.
