UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- University Heights mayor Louise From told I9 late Monday afternoon their police chief Kris Lyon was fired by the city council, "without cause and for no specific reason as of March 6, 2018."
Lyon had been placed on administrative leave in January. The mayor has not told I9 why Lyon was placed on administrative leave in the first place calling it a "personnel matter." Nevertheless, From says an outside firm conducted an investigation into Lyon. It is not clear when the investigation started or ended.
"The City Attorney has advised the City that the investigation results are not public records," said From in an email to I9.
