MARION, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- One of three containers of liquid organic peroxide leaked at a Marion business Monday night, but hazardous materials crews were able to contain it without incident, according to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department.
A news release states it happened around 8:30 p.m. at Spee Dee Delivery Service, 3780 4th Avenue in Marion.
The Marion Fire Department and Police Department responded and called for mutual aid. That's when Cedar Rapids Firefighters joined them.
Crews packaged the liquid chemical that had leaked from a 45 pound container. Firefighters monitored the situation after the material was cleaned up to make sure the area was safe.
The building was evacuated before firefighters arrived and there were no injuries. Crews said there was no damage to the building.
