COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Junior Briana Guillory highlighted the final day of the NCAA Indoor Championships with 400- meter first-team All-America honors inside Gilliam Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
Iowa totaled 14 All-American honors over the weekend - the most in program history.

“Jahisha came in ranked 10th in both events and did a fantastic job in the long jump yesterday. I could not have asked anything better for how Briana Guillory performed. She competed with some of the best in the country and the world and she just went for it. In the women’s 4x400, we told them they needed to go out and compete to break our school record. If they break it then we have a chance at placing and scoring some points.”
"On the men’s side, I don’t think we had as good as an indoor season as we thought we could have. We have a lot of work to do, but we are a much better outdoor team.”
“(14 All-America honors) is a tribute to our coaching staff and what we’ve done to turn our women’s program around in particular. We finished fifth and tied our best placing at the Big Ten Championships. We are definitely moving up the radar in the Big Ten and national radar, but we still have a lot to do. We’re a much better outdoor team. We have the 4x100 relay, the discus, and the 400 hurdles. It’s a tribute to what we’ve done to build this program up.”
WOMEN’S 400M
Junior Briana Guillory ran a personal best for the third-straight race to place sixth overall in the country in the 400 meters. Guillory ran 51.68 to become only the second Hawkeye to run less than 52 seconds, joining school-record holder Kineke Alexander (51.48).
Guillory is the fifth Hawkeye to earn All-America honors in the indoor 400 meters in program history.
1,600-METER RELAY
The men’s 1,600-meter relay ran in the second of four sections in the event, running 3:06.63. After the final section, the group of sophomore Collin Hofacker, junior DeJuan Frye, junior Mar’yea Harris, and freshman Bradford Garron earned second-team All-American honors, the second consecutive year and fourth time in program history the men’s 1,600-meter relay were named All-Americans.
The women’s 1,600-meter relay also ran in the second section to finish with a time of 3:33.19, second fastest in school history. Senior Sheridan Champe, Guillory, senior Brittany Brown, and junior Sarah Plock, were named second-team All-Americans.
