North Liberty Firefighter Suffers Minor Injury

A firefighter suffered a minor injury while fighting a fire at a North Liberty business.

Crews were called to Frontier Co-Op, 2780 Stoner Court in North Liberty, at around 10:13 a.m. Wednesday after a fire was reported on the third floor of the building.

Crews found smoke coming from the roof. Employees had evacuated the building.Investigation determined the fire began in a grinding and dust collection system.

Authorities say the fire spread outside of the collection system causing four sprinkler heads to activate. The sprinklers kept the fire from spreading. The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental.

A cost estimate has not been determined for the damage.
