Weather was a factor in a two vehicle crash that sent one person to the hospital yesterday morning according to the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said it happened about 7:30 a.m. at Covington Road and Chain Bridge Road, about a mile southeast of Palo.
34-year-old Kari McDowell of Cedar Rapids was driving north traveling too fast for the snow and ice covered road when her vehicle began to fish tail, causing it to cross the center line and hit a southbound vehicle 43-year-old Jason Rimrodt of Palo was driving.
Emergency crews took McDowell to a hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Rimrodt was not injured. The Sheriff's Office said both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Investigators said both vehicle sustained heavy damage.
Deputies cited McDowell for failure to maintain control.
