IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team retained its No. 42 national ranking by the International Tennis Association (ITA) on Tuesday following its victories over No. 40 Oregon (4-2) and Omaha (7-0) on Sunday at the Hawkeye Tennis & Recreation Complex.
Iowa also has a pair of doubles teams enter the national rankings for the first time this season. Will Davies and Piotr Smietana are ranked No. 51 while Jonas Larsen and Kareem Allaf are ranked No. 54 in the country. Davies and Smietana are 11-2 this spring and have won 10 consecutive matches playing at No. 2. The duo bounced the 16th-ranked doubles team from Oregon on Sunday, 7-5. Larsen and Allaf are 8-4 this spring playing at No. 1.
No. 42 Iowa returns to the court on Monday, March 12, against 31st-ranked Texas Tech. The match will take place in La Jolla, California.
