IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Iowa City will start street-sweeping to remove sand and debris.
The work is set to coincide with the University of Iowa's Spring Break schedule March 11-18.
During the street sweeping period, on-street parking is prohibited in certain areas so streets can be cleaned.
Vehicles not moved will be towed.
Signs will be posted at least 48 hours in advance of any work to alert car owners to move their vehicles. Signs posted will say "No parking due to maintenance."
The street sweeping will start March 12 in the Downtown area and will then move into residential areas.
The street sweeping schedule is as follows:
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13:• Bloomington Street, from Linn Street to Clinton Street (north side only)• Iowa Avenue, from Muscatine Avenue to Van Buren Street (north side only)• Washington Street, from Muscatine Avenue to Johnson Street (north side only)• College Street, from Van Buren Street to Summit Street (south side only)• Dodge Street, from Burlington Street to Bowery Street (west side only)• Van Buren Street, from Burlington Street to Bowery Street (west side only)• Dubuque Street, from Prentiss Street to Court Street (east side only)• Clinton Street, from Wright Street to Prentiss Street (east side only)• Capitol Street, from Lafayette Street to Harrison Street (east side only)

Cars that are not moved are considered “street storage” and are subject to ticketing and towing.
