LAS VEGAS – University of Iowa senior Dylan Ellsworth and freshman Bennet Huang competed in the finals at the Winter Cup Challenge on Saturday evening.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
Huang earned top-10 finishes in every event, including six top-five finishes. Ellsworth notched four top-20 finishes, including three top-15 finishes.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Gymnasts were ranked based on the combination of scores from each event in the preliminary and session and finals.
Junior Session: Huang competed in the junior session for the Hawkeyes, finishing runner-up in the all-around with a two-day score of 154.000. The freshman earned a second-place finish on vault with a 28.350, and tied for second on high bar with a score of 24.850. Huang finished third on floor with a 26.500 and fourth on rings with a 25.350. He tied for fifth on pommel horse (25.100) and registered a 10th-place finish on parallel bars (23.850). Hawkeye signee Evan Davis notched 5 top-10 finishes to finish 10th in the all-around (148.650).
Senior Session: Ellsworth finished 17th in the senior session with a 152.350 all-around score. He finished 13th on rings with a 26.500 and notched a 16th-place finish on floor (26.500) and vault (27.350). The senior registered a 24.400 on parallel bars, a 23.950 on high bar, and a 23.650 on pommel horse to round out his all-around score.
