Cheeseburgers & Chocolate Milk Leaving Happy Meal

Cheeseburgers and chocolate milk will soon disappear from McDonald’s Happy Meal menus.

The change is part of an effort to cut down on the calories, sodium, saturated fat and sugar that kids consume at its restaurants.

One may still specifically request a cheeseburger or chocolate milk with a child’s meal, but the idea behind not listing them on the menu is that it will cut down on how often they are ordered.

The Oak Brook, Illinois-based fast food chain says orders for soda with children’s meals have dropped 14 percent since it removed soda from the Happy Meal menu four years ago.

McDonald’s says it wants all its Happy Meal options to have 600 calories or fewer and for less than 10 percent of the meal’s calories to come from saturated fat and added sugar.

Cheeseburgers and chocolate milk will be removed from the Happy Meal menu in the United States by June.
