AN IOWA CITY MAN WHO ESCAPED LAST YEAR FROM AN IOWA WORK RELEASE FACILITY IN CEDAR RAPIDS HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO 18 MONTHS IN FEDERAL PRISON.
FEDERAL PROSECUTORS SAY 41-YEAR-OLD GABRIEL MANGUM WAS SENTENCED MONDAY IN FEDERAL COURT AFTER PLEADING GUILTY IN AUGUST TO ONE COUNT OF ESCAPE.
AUTHORITIES SAY MANGUM WAS A FEDERAL PRISONER WHEN HE LEFT FOR WORK ON JUNE 20 AND DID NOT RETURN.
MANGUM WAS ARRESTED BY THE U.S. MARSHAL SERVICE ON JULY 12.
