NORMAN, Oklahoma – The No. 9 University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team fell to top-ranked Oklahoma, 418.850-402.850, on Saturday. Iowa's team score marked a new season-high.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
The Hawkeyes won two event titles and recorded eight career-high scores, three season-best scores, and three team-best scores.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Pommel Horse: Senior Austin Hodges won Iowa’s first event title of the night with a 14.350 as the Hawkeyes recorded a season-high 67.850 on the event. Freshman Bennet Huang notched a career-high 14.000 and tied for third, while Dominic Tommasone recorded a career-high 12.800.
Floor: Huang (14.100) and redshirt senior Mark Springett (13.700) earned top-five finishes for the Hawkeyes, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Senior Dylan Ellsworth finished seventh with a 13.200, while sophomore Nick Merryman notched a career-high 12.750 and finished ninth.
Vault: Ellsworth led the way (14.200, fourth) as Iowa notched a season-high 70.200. Freshman Addison Chung earned a top-five finish, placing fifth with a career-best 14.150. Freshman Kulani Taylor and sophomore Brandon Wong both earned a career-best 13.950 and tied with Huang for ninth-place.
Rings: Junior Jake Brodarzon led the way, placing fifth with a 13.700. Springett followed in sixth with a season-best 13.600. Chung notched a career-high 13.300 and tied with Ellsworth for eighth.
High Bar: Hodges earned the highest Hawkeye score on high bar to date with a season-best 13.900 to finish third. Vazquez followed in fourth with a season-best 13.850. Merryman finished eighth with a career-high 13.300.
Parallel Bars: Ellsworth finished fifth with a 13.500, followed by Brodarzon in sixth with a career-high 13.200. Hodges (13.050) and Vazquez (12.600) rounded out the top-10, finishing eighth and 10th, respectively.
All-Around: Huang won the all-around crown with a 77.850.

The Hawkeyes head to Las Vegas to compete at the Winter Cup Challenge on Feb. 15-17. The event will be held at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. Competition is scheduled to being at 3 p.m. (CT) on Feb. 15.
