Traffic Camera Ban Gaining Traction

A bill banning automated traffic cameras in Iowa is moving ahead, after the Senate Judiciary Committee approved it Tuesday.

Cedar Rapids senators got on board after the city sicced bill collectors on speeders.

"What changed their viewpoint was Cedar Rapids hiring a collection agency to go after these people."  Said Committee Chairman, Senator Brad Zaun of Urbandale.

Zaun says he's very enthusiastic about the bill's chances in the full Senate.  The Iowa House also is working on a bill.
