DELAWARE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- The Delaware County Sheriff's Office has arrested Joshua Juengel, 36, of Manchester, for charges related to a fatal crash on Lake Delhi January 8.
Alex Salow died when the vehicle he was in went through the ice on Lake Delhi.
When Juengel was arrested on January 19, he told investigators he was in the vehicle with Salow, but got out before the vehicle went through the ice.
Through the investigation of the accident, there was evidence another person had been in the vehicle when it went through the ice.
Evidence and statements from witnesses said Juengel was at the accident.
Juengel left the scene through a residential area to 197th Avenue. Then he got a ride from a passing motorist.
Juengel has been charged with Reckless Driving, Making a False Report, Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Class D Felony), and Homicide by Vehicle (Class C Felony).
Juengel is being held at the Delaware County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
The Delaware County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa State Patrol.
