Marion Man Arrested on Two Theft Charges

MARION, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- UPDATE: Marion police have arrested a man they suspect of stealing two vehicles within the last couple of weeks.

Police say they originally responded to 1425 George Drive for a welfare check.

When officers arrived they found a stolen vehicle in the driveway.

Police say 33-year-old Derek Triplett was inside the home, and refused to leave the building.

Officers got a warrant and were able to arrest Triplett inside.

Police say he stole 2012 Ford Escape from Casey's on December 30, 2017 and a 2003 Toyota Highlander from the Pizza Hut at 1300 7th Avenue on January 1, 2018. Charges are still pending for those thefts. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marion police say the situation was resolved at 5:07 p.m. and all neighborhood streets are back open.

Authorities tell TV9 the person is hiding in a trailer.
