Crews Battle Fire in Buchanan Co.

INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Authorities were called to the house fire at 2:26 a.m.

The Independence, Jesup, Hazelton, and Fairbanks Fire Departments are on the scene.

One woman was inside the house at the time of the fire. She and her dog were able to get out of the house and were not hurt.

One Independence firefighter was hurt while fighting the fire. He is currently being treated for his injuries.

Authorities say they don't know the cause of the fire at this time. They consider the house to be a total loss.
