CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- A semi flipped over on I-380 and landed on L Street on January 2.
Police say they were called to the accident at 3:54 p.m. south of 18th Avenue.
Police said the trailer was split in half by a tree as it left the interstate and went onto L Street. The semi was carrying can lids.
One car had damage, as it was hit by the semi and found against the 16th Avenue bridge on I-380.
The car was parked on the side of the roadway with its flashers on, as the driver was trying to defrost his windows.
The truck driver was stuck inside the cab until bystanders were able to help open the cab door. The driver wasn't hurt.
Authorities are still investigating why the semi lost control.
Police want to remind people not to stop on the interstate as it is dangerous. Make sure your windows are clear before driving or take an exit and park in a parking lot, if possible.
