Waterloo Police said a man sexually abused an 11-year-old girl in August. They arrested 37-year-old Keith Mayes this week for second degree sexual abuse.
Officers said the girl told them Mayes touched her inappropriately. Investigators took samples of DNA left on the girl and matched them to Mayes DNA.
Mayes faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for next week.
